Again the highlight of this year has been the Junior Inter- Insular Match against Jersey. This year it was Jerseys
turn to host the event. The Tigers felt a little apprehensive playing on Jersey Ground but there concerns were soon put aside.
The opening games consisted of two fours, unfortunately both games were lost. The players weren’t fazed by this and
were still confident in winning.
Although out- bowled in the Fours, the tables were starting to turn as the Tigers claimed two out of the four Pairs
games. The pairing of Kris Bichard and Tom Mahy convincingly beat Malcolm de Sousa and Samuel Mezec 13-7, and Jerseys Paul
Dingle and Scott Ruderham were defeated by the team of Ben Marley and Shaun Bichard, 17-7.
Although wins in the pairs were gained Guernsey were still trailing 4-8 points.
Guernsey needed four out of
six games in the singles to finish with a draw. They were confident enough knowing that they had been the dominant side in
Singles the previous year. The Tigers put up a superb display of bowls, winning four out of the six games, although a fantastic
quality of bowls was displayed by all six players. Consistent
drawing from Todd Priaulx earned him a 2-0 win against Rachel MacDonald, and Shaun Bichard claimed the scalp of Scott Ruderham
2-0. Thomas Mahy battled hard against Paul Dingle before
going down 2-1, as well as Michael Le Page narrowly losing to Greg Davis 2-0. Alderney's Will Ceillam convincingly beat Ross Davis 2-0 while Kris Bichard claimed victory over Malcolm
de Sousa 2-0.
The GIBA President, Paul
Ingrouille, said it was a brilliant match, and the Tigers were a Credit to the Association, on and off the Green. The Tigers would like to thank Paul and Carol Ingrouille and all the Parents and friends who supported
them.
